Meet Ketan Naran, MD

Dr. Naran is the Medical Director of The Radiology Clinic. A board certified fellowship trained expert Musculoskeletal Radiologist. The recipient of many academic honors, Dr. Naran earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He completed his Diagnostic Radiology residency and Fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia where Dr. Naran was also Chief Resident. He received board certification from the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Naran is a member of the American College of Radiology (ACR), Society of Skeletal Radiology (SSR), Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), MedChi, and the Montgomery County Medical Society.

Meet Karen Lee, MD

Dr. Lee is a board certified, fellowship trained radiologist specializing in breast imaging. As the Director of Breast Imaging, Dr. Lee leads the team at The Radiology Clinic’s new Breast Imaging Division and continues to deliver our commitment to our community to offer the most advanced technology with fellowship trained expertise and timely radiology reporting. With over a decade of experience in 3D breast tomosynthesis, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and breast biopsy, Dr. Lee’s presence at The Radiology Clinic assures that we are able to serve our patients with a superior radiology experience. Dr. Lee completed her Diagnostic Radiology Residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Lee’s Breast Imaging Fellowship was completed at the world renowned Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.

Dr. Lee has national recognition as a breast imaging lecturer and was invited to the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) annual meeting in November 2016, to lecture as faculty of the Essentials of Breast Imaging lecture series. For the 2019 RSNA Annual Meeting, Dr. Lee was a presenter for the educational course MR Imaging-guided Breast Biopsy Hands-On. On the local level, Dr. Lee was on faculty for the Mount Sinai Update: Breast Imaging course (CME and SAM) and gave annual lectures from 2016-2019 and for the New York Breast Imaging Society in March 2018, Dr. Lee was an invited lecturer to radiologists and radiological technologists for their continuing medical education series.

Dr. Lee has numerous publications in peer-reviewed medical journals for her expertise in breast imaging. She has held many distinguished positions throughout her career, including President of the New York Breast Imaging Society, Invited Lecturer at RSNA, Site Director of Breast Imaging at Mount Sinai Radiology Associates West, System Chair of the Breast MRI Protocol and Reporting Committees at Mount Sinai Hospital, and Expert Peer Reviewer for the Journal of Clinical Imaging. Dr. Lee is also a distinguished member of the American College of Radiology as well as the Society of Breast Imaging. In her spare time, Dr. Lee enjoys keeping active with jogging, barre, and traveling to exciting destinations like Kruger National Park in South Africa, Iceland and Machu Picchu.

Meet R. Craig Platenberg, MD

Dr. Platenberg is a board certified fellowship trained expert Neuroradiologist. He graduated from the United States Air Force Academy and earned his medical degree from the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Platenberg completed his fellowship in Neuroradiology at Tufts New England Medical Center following a Radiology Residency at Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center. Dr. Platenberg served as Chief of Neuroradiology at Wilford Hall Medical Center, Director of MRI at Georgetown University Hospital, and Assistant Director of Neuroradiology at Georgetown University School of Medicine. An accomplished speaker on MRI, Dr. Platenberg also maintains memberships in several societies, including the Radiological Society of North America, the American Society of Neuroradiology (Senior Member), and the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine.

Meet David Heltzel, MD

Dr. Heltzel is a board certified, fellowship trained expert Musculoskeletal Radiologist. Graduating in the top of his class at the US Naval Academy, along with Musculoskeletal Radiology Fellowship training at The Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Dr. Heltzel lends a great deal of experience to The Radiology Clinic team. Having served in the military both in the states as well as overseas, Dr Heltzel has an expansive understanding of musculoskeletal radiologic medicine from traumatic injury to chronic disease. He has also had the distinction of publishing and being involved in numerous research papers throughout his career. Dr Heltzel is board certified by the American Board of Radiology and is a member of both the American College of Radiology and the Radiological Society of North America.

Meet Heidi Cooper, MD

Dr. Cooper is a board certified, fellowship trained expert Musculoskeletal Radiologist. After graduating from Clemson University, Dr. Cooper completed medical school at the Medical University of South Carolina and internship at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Her residency and musculoskeletal fellowship were completed at The Johns Hopkins Hospital, where she trained in state-of-the-art imaging techniques such as MRI Neurography and advanced body imaging. After training at Johns Hopkins, she served as MSK Director at Mercy Radiology Group in Auckland, New Zealand, for four years. Dr. Cooper promotes an environment of excellence in quality and compassion in care at The Radiology Clinic. She maintains memberships in several distinguished societies including the American College of Radiology, Radiologic Society of North America, and American Roentgen Ray Society.

Meet Shahin Korangy, MD

Dr. Korangy is a board certified, fellowship trained expert Neuroradiologist. With 20 years of experience in radiology and several distinguished positions, Dr. Korangy offers our patients excellence in evaluation and reporting of neurologic and body imaging. After graduating from George Washington University, he completed his education as chief resident and subsequent neuroradiology fellow at Georgetown University Medical Center. During his fellowship, he had the opportunity to train at facilities that performed cutting edge, specialized neurological medicine including the National Institute of Health and Children’s National Medical Center. Dr. Korangy’s vast experience with advanced radiology techniques and pediatric imaging make him an indispensable part of The Radiology Clinic and the high standards we hold for our practice.

Meet Myria Petrou, MD

Dr Petrou is a board certified, fellowship trained expert Neuroradiologist. Having trained at the the University Of Cambridge, with a fellowship in Neuroradiology at the University Of Michigan, as well as an advanced neuroimaging fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University, Dr Petrou offers a high level of skill and knowledge to our community. In addition to being a seasoned neuroradiologist, Dr Petrou is an expert body imager. With decades of experience in body MRI, CT, Ultrasound, and PET CT, she provides the highest level of proficiency in advanced body imaging examinations including Prostate MRI, Female Pelvis MRI, Abdominal MRI and CT, Pelvic Floor Imaging, Enterography, Rectal Cancer Staging, and more. Dr Petrou has had numerous papers and articles published by highly respected journals and publications such as the American Journal Of Roentgenology, Pediatric Neurology, Academic Radiology, Journal Of Pediatrics, American Journal Of Neuroradiology, and the Journal Of Nuclear Medicine.
